What is Atelectasis

Atelectasis is a condition where a portion of the lung has collapsed or is not able to completely expand. Atelectasis is not a disease, but a condition or sign that results from disease or abnormalities in the body.

The cause of atelectasis may include fluid in or around the lungs, Infection or blockage of airways in the lungs. Symptoms for Atelectasis include rapid breathing or shortness of breath. Treatment for Atelectasis may include physical therapy, respiratory therapy and medications.
